The Swiss Benevolent Society of Philadelphia provides assistance to individuals and families in need in the form of financial and social support. The Directors of the Board are dedicated to fulfilling the mission of the society to support Swiss and their descendants in need of assistance and reach out proactively wherever help may be needed.
The Swiss Benevolent Society of Philadelphia provides indirect assistance to deserving students in the form of scholarships, administered by the Swiss Benevolent Society of New York (SBS NY). Our society contributes financially to the Merit Scholarship program and is directly involved in the application evaluation and award process.

- Social support, including visits to the elderly and sick
- Financial support, including payments and loans
Eligibility
- Swiss descendants and their families
- Directors of the Board and their families are excluded

Scholarships
Categories
- Merit Scholarship (GPA at least 3.0); scholarship recipients may reapply annually
- Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award (Senior or Graduate & GPA at least 3.8); one-time award
- Graduate Award (Graduate & GPA at least 3.8); one-time award
- Medicus Student Exchange (Study at a Swiss University or Federal Institute of Technology); one-time award
Eligibility
- The eligibility criteria for the various scholarship programs can be found on the SBS NY website (https://www.sbsny.org/scholarships/eligibility-application)
- All eligible students living in PA, NJ or DE are encouraged to apply for scholarships
How to Apply
- Application forms and instructions are accessible on the website of the SBS NY (https://www.sbsny.org/scholarships/eligibility-application)
- All applications must be submitted to the SBS NY by March 31st at the latest
Award Process
- The scholarship programs are administered by the SBS NY
- Applications are evaluated by the Scholarship Committee of the SBS NY with SBS Philadelphia participation
- Applicants will receive award notifications directly from the SBS NY
