Annual Meeting 2009 at the Cannstatter Volksfest Verein.
(March 28th 2009)
The annual meeting was a great success with 60 attendees. It was a great pleasure to welcome the Ambassador, Mr. Christoph Bubb and his wife Regula. Among our members were also the honorary consul Mr. Franz Portmann and his wife Rosemarie.
The area Swiss Clubs were represented by Ms. Monica Rieder, President of the New Helvetic Society and Mrs. Silvia Brooks, President of the Swiss Club of the Jersey Shore.
Our entertainment was again arranged by our Vice President, Dr. Frank Muggler. We all enjoyed the accordion playing by Michael Skweir and the performances by the Franklinville/Schwarzwald Men's Chorus and the Duo Julia and Guy Rothfuss. As a surprise we also had the joy of listening to Kathleen Echols, a young soloist. Their pianist was Beth Casmas.
The president, Dolf Herger, presented the Commemorative Ethnic Heritage Coin, created in 1976 by Dr. Frank Muggler, to the Ambassador.
The members reelected all previous directors and added Mr. Alfred Kessi as a new member to the board of directors. The finances are in good shape dispite the financial problems in the banking sector. The dues will stay at $3.00 per member and everyone was asked to support next year's 150th Anniversary of the society.
All in all, we all enjoyed the excellent food and the camaraderie with members and guests.
I'm looking forward to see you all at our next annual meeting and encourage you to come forward helping us to arrange a special event to celebrate our 150th Anniversary.
